Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within GIZ's group 'Bauen in der Internationalen Zusammenarbeit' focuses on supporting and advising GIZ projects globally in the conception, planning, and execution of construction measures. This role encompasses both technical oversight and quality assurance processes, as well as operational involvement in implementing construction projects in partner countries. Interns will gain hands-on experience in international cooperation, particularly in the construction sector, and will be expected to contribute to various aspects of project management and execution.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will be responsible for a range of tasks including: supporting the internal technical team and operational areas by preparing technical documents and addressing construction-related topics; assisting in the preparation and follow-up of advisory discussions and handling inquiries; contributing to the internal and cross-group communication and knowledge management in the field of construction, including preparing training sessions and creating work aids and presentations; and supporting administrative and organizational processes within the group, such as organizing events and internal team processes. This role will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the operational aspects of international construction projects.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have a background in a construction-related field, such as architecture or civil engineering, with at least a bachelor's degree. Previous work experience in the construction sector is advantageous, as is an interest in international cooperation, particularly in developing and emerging countries. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive and independent work ethic, high motivation, and flexibility in their approach to tasks. Proficiency in MS Office products is essential, and experience in visualization and graphic design (especially PowerPoint) is beneficial.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a construction-related discipline is required for this position. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a study program that includes an internship as an integral part of their education, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some level of work experience in the construction field, which can include internships or relevant projects. Experience in international contexts, particularly in developing countries, is considered a plus and will enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is desirable and will be considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication in various international contexts.
