Job Overview:
The position of International Consultant for Peace Journalism Training involves facilitating a one-day training session aimed at enhancing the skills of journalists and media professionals in Kosovo. The training will focus on the principles of peace journalism, emphasizing the importance of language in media reporting to prevent escalation of tensions and promote dialogue among communities. The consultant will also moderate a follow-up panel discussion, allowing participants to share best practices and discuss the role of media in crisis situations. This role requires a deep understanding of conflict dynamics and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner, ensuring that participants leave with practical skills and knowledge that can be applied in their reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for designing a comprehensive training session on peace journalism, which includes developing training materials, preparing a structured plan for the panel discussion, and delivering the training in English. The consultant will assess the participants' skills and knowledge before and after the training, ensuring that the training meets its objectives. Additionally, the consultant will moderate the panel discussion, summarizing the main conclusions and providing recommendations for future actions. A final report detailing the training outcomes and recommendations for follow-up activities will also be required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in journalism, communication, international relations, peace and conflict prevention studies, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in traditional and/or digital media, particularly in reporting on conflict situations from a peace-oriented perspective, is essential. The consultant should have a professional understanding of peace journalism principles and their application in media reporting, especially in Southeast Europe. Experience in training and promoting peace journalism initiatives is also required, along with excellent communication, critical thinking, and facilitation skills.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent in journalism, communication, international relations, peace and conflict prevention studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of media reporting in conflict situations and the principles of peace journalism.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant experience in media, particularly in conflict reporting and peace journalism. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on projects that promote peacebuilding and dialogue through media, as well as experience in training journalists and media professionals.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all training materials and sessions will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, such as Albanian and/or Serbian, is desirable and would be beneficial for engaging with a broader audience in Kosovo.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is a Special Service Agreement (SSA) for a duration of 10 working days. The consultant will be expected to start on September 1, 2025, and the training session is scheduled for September 17, 202
