Job Overview:
The IT Support Specialist position is crucial for delivering high-quality technical support and maintaining systems and data across various areas to ensure the effective delivery of IT services. The role involves working closely with the Head of Field Office and other colleagues to ensure that technology and systems are functioning optimally. The specialist will be responsible for system maintenance tasks, responding to technology-related queries, and providing training to end users. This position is based in Masvingo but may also involve collaboration with other field offices in Bulawayo and Harare. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area, although completion of secondary school education is the minimum requirement. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of IT systems and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Experience in applying client service standards to resolve or escalate service problems is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant field is desirable, indicating that candidates should have foundational knowledge in IT systems and support. This educational background will equip candidates with the necessary skills to perform the technical tasks required in this role effectively.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in resolving complex technical issues. This experience should include working with head of units to define requirements for functional areas and applying client service standards to address service problems. The role demands a solid understanding of IT systems and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high service standards.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with a level C proficiency required for effective communication. Depending on the location of the post, fluency or intermediate knowledge of another official UN language may also be required. For field positions, fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station is essential, along with proficiency in the local language if it differs from the UN language.

- Conducting routine deployments of server hardware and software, including testing and problem identification.
- Maintaining information records, updating web pages and databases to ensure current and organized information.
