Job Overview:
The MHPSS/Protection Administrative Support position is crucial for the effective implementation of the MHPSS/Protection activities under the Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response, and Resilience (CPCRR) Programme. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief of Mission, Programme Manager, and other senior staff to provide essential administrative and operational support. This role involves coordinating logistical arrangements for various project activities, including assessments and community sensitizations, and supporting the development of referral mechanisms for at-risk groups. The position also requires assisting in capacity-building sessions for governmental and non-governmental actors on protection-related topics. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the MHPSS/Protection initiatives are executed smoothly and effectively, contributing to the overall goals of the programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the MHPSS/Protection Administrative Support include:
  • Providing logistical and operational support for MHPSS/Protection project activities, including assessments and community sensitizations.
  • Assisting in the preparation and logistical support for capacity-building sessions on protection-related topics.
  • Supporting the organization of monitoring visits, mentorship sessions, and coordination meetings.
  • Compiling documentation related to cross-cutting issues such as protection, gender, and child safeguarding.
  • Providing administrative support for MHPSS/protection training for IOM staff and community members.
  • Assisting with financial and logistics matters, including timely submission of timesheets.
  • Supporting data collection and organization for MHPSS/Protection activities.
  • Coordinating with government actors and stakeholders, including taking meeting notes and following up on coordination matters.
  • Undertaking duty travel to remote areas as necessary. 1
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, social work, sociology, psychology, or related fields from an accredited institution with three years of relevant professional experience. Candidates must have experience supporting community-based MHPSS and Protection activities, assisting in capacity-building or awareness-raising activities, and providing administrative support to MHPSS and Protection staff. Knowledge of the context in Katsina and Zamfara States is highly advantageous, as is previous experience working with IOM.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess either a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, social work, sociology, psychology, or related fields from an accredited institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received a recognized education that meets international standards.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or five years if they have a high school diploma. Experience should include supporting the implementation of community-based MHPSS and Protection activities, assisting in capacity-building or awareness-raising activities, and providing administrative and operational support to MHPSS and Protection staff. Previous experience with IOM, particularly with Psychosocial Mobile Teams, is considered an advantage, as is experience with data collection and report drafting in the field of protection and MHPSS.

Languages:
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is mandatory, along with proficiency in Fulfulde (oral). Knowledge of other local languages spoken in Katsina and Zamfara states is beneficial. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process, which could include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Nigeria will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification, verification of residency, visa, and necessary government authorizations. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
