Job Overview:
The Community Outreach Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the IOM’s Migration Information Centre (MIC) in Bratislava, focusing on enhancing community cohesion and the inclusion of migrants in Slovakia. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Chief of Mission and the Head of the Migrant Protection and Assistance Unit. This position involves coordinating outreach services, managing community and cultural mediators, and facilitating networking opportunities to promote social inclusion. The role requires a proactive approach to community engagement, ensuring that migrants have access to public services and authorities. The coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring and updating the MIC website, preparing visibility materials, and organizing community events and training sessions. This position is essential for fostering a supportive environment for migrants and ensuring their voices are heard within the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the IOM’s Migration Information Centre (MIC) community and outreach services.
  • Support community cohesion and inclusion of migrants in Slovakia.
  • Collaborate with cultural mediators, diaspora representatives, and local institutions.
  • Manage outreach activities across all regions of Slovakia.
  • Expand and manage a network of community and cultural mediators.
  • Facilitate liaison and networking opportunities for migrants.
  • Organize community events, workshops, and public appearances.
  • Monitor and update the MIC website and social media platforms.
  • Prepare visibility materials such as presentations, articles, and short films. 1
  • Organize and conduct training sessions, preparing relevant materials. 1
  • Assist in preparing reports for donors and maintaining project documentation. 1
  • Respond to complex inquiries and maintain project files. 1
  • Provide guidance and training to team members. 1
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Mission.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Alternatively, a completed High School degree with at least six years of relevant working experience in similar roles.
  • Experience in educational activities, community outreach, or fieldwork with migrants.
  • Familiarity with working with communities, municipalities, and civil society.
  • Proficiency in communications, including website content and social media management.
  • Experience in training delivery and writing/editing articles and reports is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of migration management and international migration issues is preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited institution. Alternatively, candidates with a completed High School degree and significant relevant experience (at least six years) may also be considered. Accredited institutions are those recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or at least six years for those with a High School diploma. Experience should include educational activities, community outreach, and work with migrants. Familiarity with governmental and non-governmental entities, as well as experience in communications and training, is highly valued. Knowledge of social, labor, and migration law in Slovakia, as well as human rights law, is considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Slovak and English is mandatory, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian is desirable but not required. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. IOM’s official languages also include French and Spanish, but these are not mandatory for this position.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates with a valid residence and work permit for Slovakia will be considered.
