Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer NOA position at WFP is crucial for enhancing the efficiency of logistics operations and activities. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting on logistics information to ensure that food assistance is delivered effectively to beneficiaries. The officer will be responsible for developing logistics plans and processes, ensuring compliance with WFP standards, and supporting logistics projects and daily operations. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to optimize logistics performance. The Logistics Officer will also play a key role in capacity building for WFP staff and partners, contributing to training materials and ensuring that all logistics operations are aligned with WFP's mission of delivering food assistance in a timely and effective manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Contributing to the development of logistics plans and processes that comply with WFP policies and standards.
  • Supporting logistics projects and day-to-day operations to ensure effective delivery of food assistance.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to recommend actions for improving local logistics operations.
  • Conducting analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and budget reviews to optimize the use of available funds.
  • Guiding support staff and acting as a point of referral for logistics-related queries.
  • Preparing accurate and timely reports on logistics activities to support informed decision-making.
  • Building productive relationships with logistics colleagues and stakeholders to foster an integrated approach to food assistance.
  • Following emergency logistics preparedness practices to ensure rapid response capabilities in crisis situations.
  • Acting in an emergency response capacity as required to meet food assistance needs. 1
  • Performing other duties as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Logistics Officer position must possess the following qualifications:
  • Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a First University degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be considered.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in logistics or a related field is required for candidates with an Advanced University degree.
  • Desired experiences include coordinating service providers’ contract execution, arranging supplier deliveries, evaluating offers, and writing proposals.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with data to inform decision-making are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Logistics Officer position includes an Advanced University degree in a relevant field such as Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business Management. Candidates with a First University degree may also qualify if they have additional years of related work experience and/or relevant training courses. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and effectively contributing to WFP's mission.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least one year of professional experience in logistics or a related field. Languages:
Fluency in French (level C) is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with local stakeholders. Additionally, an intermediate level of English (level B) is required to facilitate communication with international colleagues and partners. Proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

The Logistics Officer position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of one year, with the possibility of renewal upon successful completion of the probationary period. The duty station for this role is in Toliara and Fort Dauphin, Madagascar.
