Job Overview: The Extended Term Temporary position at the World Bank in Chennai, India, is primarily focused on ensuring best-in-class service delivery for the Quality Assurance (QA) program. The role involves reviewing the World Bank Group's administrative and capital expense transactions to verify accuracy and compliance with the Bank's policies and procedures. The incumbent will assess controls relating to WBG country offices through deep dive reviews and follow up with units for timely submission of documentation. Additionally, the position requires preparing trial balance reports, conducting financial analyses, and identifying emerging risks as part of continuous monitoring activities. The role is integral to maintaining effective internal controls and enhancing compliance awareness across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct Quality Assurance Reviews of administrative and capital expense transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
Assess controls in WBG country offices through detailed reviews.
Follow up with relevant units for timely submission of necessary documentation and clarifications.
Prepare trial balance reports for administrative expense ledger accounts and provide analyses of expenses.
Coordinate with Analysts and Team Leads for sign-off on reporting units.
Identify themes, trends, and emerging risks through continuous monitoring and support visualization and presentation of analyses.
Perform ad hoc analytics requests as needed.
Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen internal controls and simplify processes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Finance, Accounting, or Taxation. A CA, CPA, or equivalent designation is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have a good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with data analytics tools like Power BI, Power Query, or Alteryx is advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are essential.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CA or CPA are preferred and indicate a higher level of expertise in the field.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting processes, financial reporting, and compliance with administrative expense policies.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
