Job Overview:
The Officer, Analysis position is integral to the Office of the Chief Scientist at NATO, focusing on the continuous identification and analysis of Science & Technology trends. The incumbent will be expected to deliver tailored reports that assess the policy impact of these trends, thereby informing NATO's strategic documents and policies. This role involves drafting papers and reports for a diverse range of stakeholders, including high-level officials, and requires collaboration with various teams within NATO. The position also entails organizing workshops and events to facilitate the sharing of research results and expert opinions, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing NATO's scientific and technological capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Officer, Analysis include:

• Continuously identifying and analyzing S&T trends based on reports from STO programs and other NATO stakeholders.
• Delivering tailored reports on the policy impact of technology trends to inform NATO's strategic decisions.
• Organizing workshops and events to enhance the sharing of S&T research results.
• Drafting papers and reports for various stakeholders, including NATO officials and the North Atlantic Council.
• Preparing speaking notes for senior officials, including the Chief Scientist.
• Supporting the Head of Branch in managing commissioned advice products.
• Collaborating closely with other analysis officers to ensure comprehensive assessments of military impacts.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

• At least 3 years of professional experience in science or technology, with a focus on research or policy development.
• Broad operational knowledge of military technology and defense capabilities.
• Proven ability in planning, analysis, and drafting proposals.
• Proficiency in office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification from a defense or military institution, preferably in a scientific, technical, engineering, or mathematical discipline. A postgraduate degree in a relevant field is desirable, particularly one that aligns with defense and security interests.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, ideally in operational research and analysis or related scientific fields. Experience working in an international environment, particularly within NATO or similar organizations, is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate a capacity to work effectively in a multinational and multicultural setting.

Languages:
Candidates must have a very good knowledge of one of NATO's official languages, English or French, with a good knowledge of the other. The primary working language is English, and proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The successful applicant will be offered a definite duration contract of three years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional three years. The maximum period of service in this post is six years. The position may require irregular working hours and frequent travel, including weekends.
