Job Overview:
The Climate, Environment & Health (CEH) Engagement, Advocacy & Positioning Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of MSF's Climate & Environment Programme of Engagement. This position involves coordinating internal engagement, positioning, advocacy preparation, and communication on climate, environment, and health issues. Reporting to the IO Climate & Environment Team Lead, the role collaborates with operational directorates, platforms, the International Office, and other relevant MSF stakeholders to ensure coherent, field-informed CEH positioning and engagement in strategic advocacy opportunities. The CEH Engagement Lead is responsible for translating complex climate and environmental health issues into structured engagement processes and clear communication outputs that facilitate alignment, informed debate, and decision-making across MSF. This role is essential in addressing the increasing impact of climate change and environmental degradation on vulnerable populations served by MSF, as well as shaping the context in which humanitarian action occurs. The successful candidate will be expected to work proactively to ensure that MSF's climate and environmental objectives are met, including a commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advocating for climate action within the humanitarian sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the CEH Intersectional Advocacy & Positioning Group (IAPG): Ensure effective coordination, functioning, and follow-up of the IAPG, including planning and facilitating regular meetings, setting agendas, and tracking agreed actions. Maintain information flow between the IAPG, Steering Committee, International Office, and relevant MSF platforms. Coordinate sub-groups or task teams as needed.
  • Lead Internal Stakeholder Engagement: Support inclusive and structured engagement across MSF to build alignment on CEH and Programme of Engagement-related dossiers. Map and engage relevant internal stakeholders across sections, Operational Directorates, platforms, and field structures. Design and facilitate consultation processes to gather input and identify areas of convergence or divergence. Support dialogue and alignment between operational, advocacy, medical, logistical, and governance stakeholders. Escalate key issues or unresolved divergences to appropriate decision-making bodies.
  • Support CEH Positioning and Advocacy: Coordinate the development of coherent CEH positioning and support MSF's engagement in relevant advocacy spaces. Develop position papers, key messages, briefing notes, and advocacy materials. Prepare for MSF engagement in international fora, including UNFCCC and other global policy spaces. Ensure advocacy positions are informed by operational realities and aligned across relevant MSF stakeholders. Monitor key external developments and identify implications for MSF positioning and engagement.
  • Develop Internal Communication and Engagement Products: Ensure clear, consistent, and accessible communication on CEH-related work across MSF. Develop internal communication plans and products tailored to different MSF audiences. Coordinate the production of briefings, presentations, webinars, talking points, and other engagement materials. Ensure consistency and quality of messaging across CEH-related communication outputs. Organize and support internal debates, workshops, or information sessions as required.
  • Strengthen Knowledge Management and Climate Literacy: Improve access to CEH knowledge and support institutional learning across MSF. Curate and maintain CEH resources, tools, documents, and lessons learned. Facilitate learning initiatives, webinars, reflection spaces, and capacity-building activities. Ensure key documents, decisions, and outputs are properly documented and accessible. Identify knowledge gaps and propose practical solutions to address them.
  • Ensure Process, Administrative, and Logistical Support: Provide timely administrative and organizational support for CEH-related coordination, advocacy, and events. Coordinate administrative follow-up for CEH-related processes, including UNFCCC participation where relevant. Support the organization of meetings, workshops, webinars, and advocacy-related events. Track key deadlines, required inputs, and follow-up actions.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a master's degree in a relevant field such as law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, human rights, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree combined with significant relevant experience in advocacy, representation, or a similar area will be considered. The candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of the humanitarian sector, particularly in relation to climate and environmental issues, and possess excellent writing and presentation skills. Additionally, the candidate should have a proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and facilitate discussions effectively.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in a relevant field such as international law, human rights, or a related discipline is required. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree combined with significant relevant experience in advocacy, representation, or a similar area will be considered sufficient for this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have 3-5 years of work experience with MSF, including a minimum of 3 years' experience in advocacy representation. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of the humanitarian sector and the ability to navigate complex advocacy environments effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly in languages relevant to MSF's operational contexts.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract at 100% duration until 31st of December 2026, with a starting date as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be offered a contract in the MSF office that can issue a contract in their country of residence at the time of application. If no MSF office exists in their country of residence, the candidate will be expected to relocate to a country where an MSF office can issue a contract, provided local legislation allows for such relocation. Compensation and benefits will be in accordance with MSF's practices and the current package in the MSF entity establishing the contract.
