Job Overview: The Individual Giving - Tech Project Manager will play a crucial role in the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) division of WFP. This position is responsible for managing the project delivery management system of the IG Tech & Product team, ensuring that work is prioritized, planned, and executed effectively in alignment with organizational objectives. The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, engage with vendors, and ensure adherence to internal governance processes. The role requires a proactive approach to managing project timelines, dependencies, and risks while facilitating stakeholder communication and alignment. The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic enablement of the team by translating organizational objectives into actionable delivery plans, ultimately supporting WFP's mission to combat hunger and malnutrition globally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Delivery Management & Execution Governance: Own and manage the project delivery management system to ensure work is executed predictably and efficiently. Responsibilities include establishing structured delivery processes, managing project timelines, and ensuring visibility on priorities and progress.
Demand Management, Prioritization & Capacity Planning: Lead the intake and prioritization processes to focus on high-value initiatives, assessing workload and delivery feasibility.
Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as a key interface between the IG Tech & Product team and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration.
Vendor Coordination & Partnership Management: Ensure external vendors operate as integrated extensions of the team, managing their activities and performance.
Process Improvement & Operational Effectiveness: Continuously improve project management practices and operational efficiency across the team.
Strategic Enablement & Team Support: Support the team in translating organizational objectives into actionable delivery plans and operational priorities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree or relevant educational certificate in Computer Science, IT Engineering, Business Administration, or a related STEM discipline. A project management certification such as PRINCE II or Agile is advantageous. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management or related operational coordination roles, with proven experience managing complex projects in fast-paced environments. Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana, Jira, or Trello is essential, along with experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies. Experience in technology, digital transformation, or fundraising technology is considered an asset.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, IT Engineering, Business Administration, or a related STEM discipline is required. Candidates with complementary work experience may also be considered. A project management certification such as PRINCE II or Agile is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, technical project management, or related operational coordination roles. Candidates should have a track record of managing complex projects or delivery portfolios in dynamic, multi-stakeholder environments, as well as experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Languages: Excellent command of spoken and written English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a plus, especially in languages relevant to WFP's operational regions.
Additional Notes: This position is a regular consultant role with a contract duration of 11 months. The role is based in Rome, Italy, and offers an attractive compensation package.
