Job Overview:
The Driver position is a crucial part of the Operations team within the Country Management Support Unit at the WHO Country Office. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide reliable transportation services by driving a WHO official vehicle. This includes transporting authorized personnel, handling deliveries, and collecting mail, documents, and other items as needed. The incumbent is expected to drive safely while adhering to traffic regulations and ensuring that the vehicle is maintained in optimal working condition. The role also involves supporting the Operations Support and Logistics team, which is responsible for managing a fleet of WHO vehicles and coordinating field travel across the country. The Driver will play a key role in ensuring that the transportation needs of the organization are met efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall mission of WHO in improving health outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Drive office vehicles to convey authorized personnel and handle the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items.
  • Meet authorized personnel at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required.
  • Ensure the availability of all required documents and supplies in the assigned vehicle, including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, oil changes, tire checks, and car washing.
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, and greasing, and fill in the Monthly vehicle data form at the end of each month.
  • Follow the necessary steps required by the rules and regulations in case of involvement in an accident.
  • Perform other related duties as required or instructed, including providing support to other areas of work as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Driver position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Completion of primary school education.
  • A valid driving license is essential.
  • Basic mechanics certificate and first aid training are desirable.
  • A minimum of one year of driving experience with a clean and safe driving record is required.
  • Relevant experience in the WHO, UN, or other international organizations is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes the completion of primary school education. A valid driving license is mandatory. Additionally, a basic mechanics certificate and first aid training would be beneficial and are considered desirable qualifications for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of one year of driving experience, with a clean and safe driving record. Relevant experience working with the WHO, UN, or other international organizations is desirable and will be considered an asset for applicants.

Languages:
Intermediate knowledge of English is required for this position. This includes the ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English, which is essential for effective communication and reporting.
