Overview
Established in 1957, the European Union (EU) aims to benefit its citizens by working for peace and prosperity and helps to protect their political, social and economic rights. The goals of the European Union are: promoting peace, offering freedom, security and justice without internal borders, combating social exclusion and discrimination, promoting scientific and technological progress, enhancing economic, social and territorial cohesion and solidarity among member countries, respecting rich cultural and linguistic diversity, and establishing an economic and monetary union.
