Job Overview:
The Líder de Equipo Protección position is crucial for managing the project team in the assigned area and providing Technical Support during the implementation of designated projects on the ground. The role involves overseeing project personnel, implementing project portfolio functions as per the action plan, and ensuring daily monitoring of activity progress. The leader is responsible for ensuring compliance with NRC policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines, while also ensuring that project activities target the most vulnerable beneficiaries. The position requires the promotion of innovative ideas for improving technical assistance and preparing periodic progress reports. The leader will also be responsible for training project staff and facilitating the transfer of key skills, as well as liaising with local authorities and stakeholders to promote the rights of internally displaced persons and returnees in line with advocacy strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Líder de Equipo Protección will be responsible for the correct implementation of protection activities in accordance with global protection guidelines, humanitarian principles, and other relevant standards. The leader will collaborate with the Protection Coordination personnel to promote a protection approach among key actors and in relevant local coordination spaces. They will identify capacity strengthening needs for protection staff and other CORE competencies within NRC related to protection issues. The leader will Design, coordinate actions, and follow up on the work plan for effective implementation of stand-alone protection projects in the region. They will provide technical assistance to case management staff according to NRC's established procedures and global guidelines. Frequent field missions will be required to provide necessary technical support to protection staff under their supervision and ensure effective implementation of protection projects in line with NRC's Protection Policy and donor guidelines. The leader will also support the collection of information for reporting and donor requirements, monitor the implementation of the action framework and ongoing projects, and coordinate with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) staff. Participation in relevant coordination spaces and support in the development/review of M&E tools for stand-alone protection projects will also be part of the responsibilities, along with any other tasks assigned by the supervisor to meet the objectives of the position.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess experience working in similar roles within humanitarian contexts, with documented results related to the responsibilities of the position. A solid understanding of national and international legal frameworks regarding Human Rights and the protection of displaced persons is essential. Knowledge of international protection standards, humanitarian principles, and a good understanding of age, gender, and diversity approaches are also required. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience managing the implementation of protection projects in humanitarian or Early Recovery contexts, particularly in complex and volatile environments like Colombia and the Western region. Relevant experience in team management and case management is necessary, along with proficiency in Data Collection and protection. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint) and maintain confidentiality and organization of information.
Educational Background:
A university degree in Law, Social Sciences, or other related fields is required for this position.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in managing the implementation of protection projects within humanitarian contexts or early recovery settings. Candidates should have experience working in complex and volatile environments, particularly in Colombia and the Western region, and should have relevant experience in team management and case management.
Languages:
Intermediate proficiency in written and verbal English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
Additional Notes:
This position requires frequent travel to areas where endemic diseases are present. Employment with NRC may involve deployment to regions or offices that pose significant health, safety, and Security risks.
