Job Overview:
The International Digital Knowledge & Capacity Building Advisor will play a crucial role in advancing MSF’s digital capabilities, particularly in the areas of communications and fundraising. This position is part of the newly established International Digital Engagement Unit (IDEU), which aims to provide expert support for MSF’s digital community. The advisor will be responsible for developing and implementing a global knowledge management and digital skills building strategy tailored for MSF’s digital specialists. This role will involve identifying knowledge gaps, enhancing digital literacy, and fostering a culture of Continuous Learning within the organization. The advisor will work closely with various stakeholders, including the International Communications & Knowledge Management Advisor and the International Capacity Building Fundraising Team, to ensure that digital activities align with MSF’s institutional objectives. The position requires a proactive approach to engage with the digital community and drive digital maturity across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead Learning and Development strategy and planning: Identify digital knowledge and skills priorities, Design and implement strategies, oversee skills assessments, and develop customized learning experiences. 2. Foster true learning and lively Communities of Practice: Establish a Community of Practice, coordinate peer support activities, select digital platforms for interaction, and organize online events. 3. Lead and implement Knowledge Management Strategy: Develop strategies for effective knowledge management, improve internal digital information centers, and curate best practices. 4. Enhance digital literacy across departments: Develop targeted Training Programs for various roles, provide strategic guidance, and ensure alignment with digital trends. 5. Development of an Evaluation System: Establish a system to evaluate contributions to digital communication and fundraising, develop KPI dashboards, and monitor progress. 6. Other: Potentially contribute to out-of-hours team on-call rotation and take on additional responsibilities as agreed with the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in digital engagement, knowledge management, or capacity building, with proven experience in developing and implementing training programs. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse stakeholders. A deep understanding of digital tools and platforms, as well as experience in fostering communities of practice, is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to MSF’s humanitarian principles and values.
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, Digital Media, education, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree or equivalent experience in knowledge management, digital engagement, or capacity building is preferred.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in digital engagement, knowledge management, or capacity building roles. Experience working in a humanitarian or non-profit context is highly desirable, as is familiarity with MSF’s operations and values.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in French, Spanish, or other languages is considered an asset. The ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment is crucial.
Additional Notes:
This position is a permanent contract at 100% capacity, with the successful candidate typically offered a contract in the MSF office of their country of residence at the time of application. The starting date for this position is January 2025, and the compensation and benefits package will be determined based on the MSF office establishing the contract.
