Job Overview:
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP)/Governance Technical Director will play a crucial role in the anticipated USAID Democratic Guatemala Governance for Local Development Project. This project aims to enhance local socioeconomic development, promote sustainable local development, improve decentralized public services, and facilitate public investments at local levels. The DCOP will provide expert advice to ensure that the project aligns with its objectives and best practices. Under the direction of the Chief of Party, the DCOP will manage and provide strong Technical Support for the project's implementation, working closely with various stakeholders, including government institutions, indigenous authority systems, and the private sector. The position requires a passionate and dedicated professional committed to building a world of expanded opportunities and resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The DCOP will oversee technical teams and the implementation of technical activities. Responsibilities include providing day-to-day technical leadership, managing project activities, supervising and mentoring technical staff, ensuring alignment with the approved workplan and budget, and delivering high-quality technical assistance to government officials and civil society leaders. The DCOP will lead project review sessions, maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, and represent Global Communities at meetings. The role also involves assuming the Chief of Party's responsibilities when necessary and ensuring effective communication of project progress to USAID.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as international development, public Administration, political science, or law, with at least 8 years of experience managing multi-sectoral projects. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in a senior management role on a USAID-funded program, with strong skills in strategic planning, management, and budgeting. Significant experience in areas such as local governance, decentralization, and anti-corruption is preferred, along with knowledge of USAID policies and strategies.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is required, or a Bachelor's degree with extensive experience. The educational background should be related to international development, public administration, political science, or law, ensuring that candidates have the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to fulfill the role effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in managing multi-sectoral projects, with increasing responsibilities in governance and anti-corruption fields. Experience in a leadership position involving the administration of international donor-supported programs is strongly preferred, particularly in Central America and Guatemala. Proven experience working with government officials and Civil Society Organizations is essential.

Languages:
Full professional proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is mandatory. A working knowledge of English is preferred, enabling effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
