Job Overview:
The position of Assistant to the Director of Operations and the Deputy Director of Operations for Programs (DOAP) involves providing Technical Support to field teams and headquarters, assisting in defining mission strategies, critically assessing project quality, contributing to the technical development of the organization, and improving the skills of technical teams through the development of tools and training materials. The intern will engage in various tasks related to the DOAP, including conducting research on technical and thematic information, supporting the capitalization process, assisting in the organization of internal training, and maintaining a watch on technical and humanitarian events. This internship offers a unique opportunity to understand the inner workings of a humanitarian NGO and its various approaches, while also providing a variety of tasks and internal training to enhance the intern's future humanitarian engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the DOAP in researching technical and thematic information (e.g., water Service Management, environment, Cash Transfer programs, protection, quality and accountability, research and innovation).
- Assisting in the capitalization process by proofreading, correcting, translating, and disseminating capitalization documents (activity sheets, internal notes, etc.).
- Participating in strategic discussions regarding the DOAP's vision for 203
- Helping Design and distribute the DOAP newsletter to field teams.
- Organizing events, including preparing for program retreats, writing reports, coordinating logistics, and ensuring the preparation of inter-ONG meetings.
- Supporting the organization of internal training sessions.
- Monitoring technical and humanitarian events and updating the training calendar.
- Tracking the DOAP budget.
- Attending weekly DOAP meetings and writing minutes. 1
- Assisting the Director of Operations with internal document drafting and communication updates, managing SharePoint for directors and country directors, and providing support for project proposal submissions. 1
- Participating in thematic and Coordination meetings and ensuring minutes are taken as requested. 1
- Assisting in organizing events led by the operations directorate. The tasks require autonomy, rigor, and versatility, with a strong understanding of humanitarian contexts being essential.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a strong writing ability in both French and English, with a high level of proficiency in drafting and synthesizing information. Fluency in French and English is mandatory, while Spanish is considered an asset. A solid understanding of the humanitarian project cycle is essential, along with an interest in water, hygiene, sanitation, Agriculture, rural development, and monitoring/evaluation of Humanitarian Action. Candidates should also be sensitive to quality approaches in program implementation and demonstrate a genuine interest and motivation for the associative and humanitarian sectors. Additional required skills include critical thinking, adaptability, autonomy, stress management, and proficiency in computer skills (especially Microsoft Office, including Excel).
Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a higher education background, preferably in a technical field related to water and sanitation, agronomy, humanitarian project management, political science, or international relations. This educational foundation will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the organization's mission and objectives.
Experience:

This internship is based at the SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy, France, accessible via the Mairie de Clichy metro station. The internship is compensated at a rate of 4.90 euros per hour, calculated based on actual hours worked. The organization covers 50% of public transport costs and provides meal vouchers worth 8.90 euros per day of actual internship attendance, with a 60% contribution from SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL.
