Job Overview: The Program Assistant position at the World Bank Group is designed to provide essential operational and administrative support to various sectors within the organization. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in facilitating the implementation of the unit's work program, which may involve specialized support in areas such as task management, procurement, and database management. The role requires a proactive approach to interpreting operational procedures, coordinating with different units, and liaising with team members and external counterparts. Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Assistant will undertake a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing operational and administrative support to the unit, interpreting and applying operational procedures, coordinating with other World Bank Group units, assisting in the implementation of the work program, translating and drafting documents, identifying and resolving issues, enhancing work organization, participating in project/product timeline development, attending meetings and drafting minutes, serving as an information resource on project statuses, monitoring task budgets, conducting inquiries in databases, participating in field missions, coordinating schedules, assisting in event planning, maintaining distribution lists, managing project files, submitting travel requests, mentoring junior staff, and undertaking ad-hoc assignments as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Program Assistant position should possess a Bachelor’s degree along with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in administrative assistance within a multinational or international organization is preferred. Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is essential, as is the ability to draft routine correspondence and edit materials accurately. Effective time management and organizational skills are crucial, along with the ability to demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness. Candidates should also have proven interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, and the capacity to produce high-quality work under pressure.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the Program Assistant position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
