Job Overview:
The GBV AoR Sub-national Coordinator (NOB) plays a crucial role in leading and advancing UNFPA Sudan's efforts in preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) at the subnational level. This position is vital for ensuring that GBV interventions are effectively coordinated among various humanitarian actors, including government entities and local organizations. The incumbent will utilize established guidelines and standards to improve the quality of GBV response and prevention efforts. The role requires a strong focus on advocacy, coordination, and technical leadership to enhance the effectiveness of GBV programs and ensure that the needs of affected populations are met. The coordinator will also be responsible for developing strategies for effective communication regarding GBV services and risk mitigation, as well as providing technical support and capacity building for GBV working group coordinators and UNFPA staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in social work, social sciences, public health, international relations, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or related fields. A minimum of two years of experience in GBV coordination or programming, protection, or program management in humanitarian settings is required. Demonstrable knowledge of protection issues, humanitarian emergency operations, and group facilitation skills are essential. Candidates should also have prior training in gender and GBV issues and their application in humanitarian contexts, as well as knowledge of participatory methods for community development.
Educational Background:
An advanced degree in relevant fields such as social work, social sciences, public health, international relations, or international law is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of GBV issues and the necessary interventions to address them effectively.
Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant experience in GBV coordination, programming, or protection within humanitarian settings. Languages:

- Coordination, Advocacy, and Promoting Joint Action: The coordinator will reinforce the GBV working group by promoting engagement among relevant humanitarian actors, including government and local organizations. Responsibilities include coordinating with various working groups, updating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), developing work plans, and drafting advocacy messages to promote GBV interventions.
- Program and Technical Leadership: Conduct field assessments to identify needs and gaps in GBV prevention and response, develop comprehensive interventions in partnership with other UN agencies and NGOs, and facilitate capacity-building trainings on GBV core concepts.
- Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA): Support the development and implementation of PSEA strategies, conduct risk assessments, and train staff on appropriate conduct and reporting mechanisms.
- Information Management, Assessments, and Reporting: Lead assessments and ensure GBV concerns are included in multi-sectoral assessments, map existing GBV actors, and prepare periodic reports on GBV working group activities.
- Other: Maintain an up-to-date contact list of GBV working group members, service mapping, and referral pathways, and undertake additional tasks as requested by the sub-national GBV coordinator.
