Job Overview:
The GBV AoR Sub-national Coordinator (NOB) will play a crucial role in leading and advancing UNFPA Sudan's efforts in GBV prevention and response at the subnational level. This position requires a strong focus on technical excellence and impactful partnerships, ensuring that GBV interventions are effectively coordinated among various humanitarian actors. The incumbent will utilize established guidelines and standards to improve the quality of GBV response and prevention efforts, working closely with local and international organizations to address the needs of affected populations. The role involves significant advocacy, coordination, and program leadership responsibilities, aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness of GBV interventions in emergency settings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in social work, social sciences, public health, international relations, or related fields. A minimum of two years of experience in GBV coordination or programming in humanitarian settings is required. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of protection issues, humanitarian operations, and the roles of key actors in emergencies. Skills in group facilitation, capacity building, and training are essential, along with prior training in gender and GBV issues. Awareness of gender issues in humanitarian contexts is crucial, as is experience in participatory community development methods.
Educational Background:
An advanced degree in social work, social sciences, public health, community health, international relations, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or related fields is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of GBV issues and the necessary interventions in humanitarian settings.
Experience:

Languages:

- Coordination, Advocacy, and Promoting Joint Action: The incumbent will reinforce the GBV working group by promoting engagement among relevant humanitarian actors, including government entities and NGOs. This includes coordinating with various working groups to mitigate GBV risks and ensure effective survivor referral pathways. The coordinator will also develop advocacy materials to communicate the importance of GBV interventions in crisis contexts and support the capacity building of GBV working group coordinators.
- Program and Technical Leadership: The coordinator will conduct field assessments to identify needs and gaps in GBV prevention and response, ensuring that GBV issues are integrated into broader humanitarian assessments. They will collaborate with UN agencies and NGOs to develop comprehensive GBV interventions and facilitate training for stakeholders involved in GBV response.
- Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA): The incumbent will support the development and implementation of PSEA strategies, conduct risk assessments, and train staff on appropriate conduct and reporting mechanisms. They will also engage local actors to ensure community participation in PSEA initiatives.
- Information Management, Assessments, and Reporting: The coordinator will lead assessments and ensure that GBV concerns are included in multi-sectoral evaluations. They will establish a standardized approach to data gathering and contribute to the drafting of reports and updates on GBV activities.
