Job Overview:
The Youth Advocacy Assistant position is designed to provide advocacy assistance to the STF team. The selected candidate will be expected to work between 16 to 27 hours per week during the academic year, from August 4, 2025, to May 22, 202
  • The role requires afternoon and early evening availability, with a preference for candidates who can work from the office 2-3 days a week while also having the flexibility to work remotely. The assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of advocacy activities aligned with the 2025-2026 human rights action plans, contributing to the overall mission of empowering youth in human rights advocacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Youth Advocacy Assistant include:
  • Supporting the implementation of advocacy activities by providing administrative support in creating advocacy materials and assisting with activities at assigned schools.
  • Liaising with student leaders and faculty advisors at STF chapters, monitoring activities, and reporting back to the STF Senior Manager.
  • Supporting student leaders in planning and executing advocacy activities and assisting with weekly virtual leadership meetings.
  • Assisting the STF team in implementing strategies and tools to equip students as knowledgeable human rights activists.
  • Preparing, formatting, editing, and distributing communications and documents for assigned STF chapters.
  • Providing administrative support, including proofreading, scheduling meetings, and responding to inquiries.
  • Carrying out other duties as required to support the STF team and its objectives.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field. Candidates currently enrolled in university courses are encouraged to apply, especially those with a passion for human rights work. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is preferred, particularly in roles involving advocacy and working with volunteers. Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English, prior office/administration experience, meticulous attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and internet applications like MailChimp, is required. Experience in graphic design, web design, social media, and online communication tools is preferred. The ideal candidate should be a quick learner, creative thinker, and productive worker capable of meeting frequent deadlines while managing multiple tasks.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field is desired for this position. Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant work experience, preferably in roles that involve working with middle school, high school, or university students.
