Job Overview:
The Programme Management - Senior Officer (National Coordinator Caretaker) position is crucial for overseeing ongoing SGP grant projects in Eswatini. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting periodic project monitoring field visits, providing technical and operational support to SGP grantees, and ensuring the quality of project proposals and reports. This role involves organizing stakeholder workshops, capacity-building training for grantees, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders, including the National Steering Committee and UNDP Country Office team. The position requires a strong commitment to the principles of sustainable development and the ability to manage resources effectively to achieve maximum impact.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Management - Senior Officer include overseeing ongoing SGP grant projects, conducting field visits for monitoring, providing technical support to grantees, organizing calls for proposals, coordinating with the National Steering Committee, ensuring quality control over project ideas, monitoring program implementation, organizing workshops for stakeholders, reviewing grantees' reports, providing capacity-building training, undertaking monitoring and evaluation of the SGP Country Programme, reporting on program implementation status, coordinating administrative tasks, documenting program stories and lessons learned, and developing the annual report for the SGP country programme.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field such as environment or natural resource management, environmental economics, or development, with at least two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) with four years of relevant experience is acceptable. Relevant experience includes work in environment, development, monitoring and evaluation, and program/project management. Experience in gender-sensitive programming is desirable, as is knowledge of SGP and NGO grant program management.
Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environment or natural resource management, environmental economics, development, business administration, or a related discipline is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) is acceptable with additional relevant experience. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their ability to manage and evaluate projects effectively.
Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience defined as work in the environment, development, monitoring and evaluation, economics, or related fields. Experience in program/project management at the national level is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in gender-sensitive programming or have knowledge of SGP and NGO grant management.
Languages:
Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a diverse environment.
Additional Notes:
This position is a local role, and only applicants with Eswatini nationality are eligible. The contract type is an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) on a retainer basis, with a duration of 8 months and the possibility of extension based on organizational needs and performance.
