Job Overview:
The ICLA Intern position is designed for individuals who are passionate about humanitarian work and eager to contribute to the support of migrants and refugees in Ecuador. The intern will play a crucial role in implementing activities related to Information, Counselling, and Legal Assistance (ICLA) by engaging directly with communities to identify their needs regarding migration regularization, access to rights, and available services. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in complex and changing environments. The intern will be expected to maintain accurate documentation and promote the NRC's mission and services within the communities they serve.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for conducting community visits to foster contact with migrants, refugees, and key local populations to identify their needs for migration regularization and access to rights and services. They will share information gathered from community members with the ICLA team to facilitate appropriate responses and referrals. The intern will assist in connecting migrants and refugees with NRC services and other service providers for migration regularization processes in Ecuador. They will support the ICLA team in executing community activities and work plans to enhance access to migration regularization processes. Additionally, the intern will provide basic information about NRC's work and communication mechanisms, deliver relevant information to migrants and refugees about services of interest, and compile reports on activities conducted, including verification means such as lists of visited individuals and community contacts. Other tasks may be assigned by the immediate supervisor to meet the objectives of the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be law students or students from other social sciences disciplines, demonstrating a strong interest in social and community work. They should possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to promote teamwork, and a solid understanding of the responsibilities associated with the role. A commitment to working in complex and changing contexts is essential, along with a willingness to engage with vulnerable populations and human rights issues.

Educational Background:
A background in law or social sciences is required for this position. Candidates should be currently enrolled in a relevant academic program, which will provide them with the necessary theoretical knowledge to support their practical work in the field.

Experience:
While prior experience in humanitarian work is not mandatory, any relevant volunteer or internship experience in social services, community engagement, or legal assistance will be considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to the values and mission of NRC and a desire to learn and grow within the organization.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the communities served. Proficiency in English or other languages relevant to the local context would be considered advantageous, enhancing the intern's ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
