Job Overview:
The Programme Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing and implementing projects aimed at improving access to gender-based violence (GBV) response services in Ethiopia, particularly in the context of the ongoing humanitarian crisis resulting from conflict and climate change. The position requires frequent travel to various project sites across regions affected by conflict, including Tigray, Oromia, Afar, and Benishangul-Gumuz. The Programme Coordinator will report to the Humanitarian Coordinator in Addis Ababa and work closely with other specialists to ensure effective project delivery. The role involves strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building to enhance the effectiveness of GBV interventions in the region. The Programme Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that project activities are aligned with UNFPA's mission and strategic objectives, while also addressing the unique challenges posed by the humanitarian context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day management of the project, ensuring timely implementation and accountability for results. Key responsibilities include: managing the project team, developing work plans, guiding implementing partners, monitoring progress against performance indicators, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA's business processes. The Coordinator will also be responsible for financial management, including budget oversight and reporting, and will contribute to knowledge sharing by documenting lessons learned and best practices. Additionally, the role involves capacity building of local authorities and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication among partners, and participating in governance meetings to discuss project progress and challenges. The Programme Coordinator will also be expected to undertake any other assignments as requested by the UNFPA Representative.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in health, population, demography, or a related social science discipline. A minimum of 7 years of specialized experience in GBV programming is required, with at least 4 years in a humanitarian context at an international level. Proven experience in coordination with government counterparts and NGOs, as well as a strong background in budget management and leadership within a multicultural environment, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of human rights-based approaches, experience in capacity development, and practical knowledge of GBV case management and referral processes. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are also necessary, along with IT literacy and time management abilities.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in health, population, demography, or other related social science disciplines is required for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of GBV issues and the socio-cultural factors that influence them, particularly in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
The position requires at least 7 years of specialized experience in GBV programming, with a minimum of 4 years in a humanitarian context at an international level. Candidates should have a proven track record in managing GBV prevention and response programs, as well as experience in budget management and coordination with various stakeholders, including government entities and NGOs. Direct experience providing support to GBV survivors is considered an asset, as is experience working in developing countries at a global or regional level.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Amharic or Tigrinya is desired, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of program implementation in the regions served.
