Job Overview:
The Protection Officer position is primarily focused on the day-to-day implementation of the Protection Project, which aims to provide essential support and services to individuals affected by conflict. The officer will be responsible for ensuring adherence to NRC policies and guidelines while implementing the Protection portfolio according to the established plan of action. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing the needs of the most vulnerable individuals, ensuring that the projects target beneficiaries who are most in need. The officer will also be expected to maintain accurate records and documentation, prepare status reports, and explore new ways to assist beneficiaries effectively. Overall, the Protection Officer plays a crucial role in enhancing the protection response and ensuring that individuals receive the necessary support and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing general protection case management services in compliance with international standards; conducting assessments of needs and developing case plans; facilitating access to services and ensuring follow-up and case closure for at-risk individuals; maintaining accurate updates to the Protection database; adhering to data protection protocols; providing focused non-specialized mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS); advocating for beneficiaries with community stakeholders; conducting field visits; assisting in community engagement and awareness-raising activities; ensuring the dissemination of reliable information; mapping services and stakeholders; submitting activity plans and reports; participating in case reviews; supporting monitoring and evaluation efforts; and undertaking any other reasonable tasks assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Protection Officer position must possess several key qualifications, including experience in similar roles within humanitarian or recovery contexts, documented results related to the responsibilities of the position, strong computer skills (including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Kobo), and good English language skills (both written and spoken). Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of experience in protection-related work and general case management, as well as a university degree or equivalent experience in social work, psychology, or psychosocial counseling. A good understanding of community dynamics in areas affected by violence, particularly in Anbar, is also essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Protection Officer position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as social work, psychology, or psychosocial counseling. Candidates with high levels of experience in these areas may also be considered, even if they do not hold a formal degree. The educational qualifications should equip candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support individuals in need and navigate the complexities of protection work in humanitarian settings.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in protection-related work and general case management. This experience should ideally be within a humanitarian or recovery context, demonstrating the candidate's ability to handle the challenges associated with providing support to vulnerable populations. Candidates should also have a proven track record of achieving results related to the responsibilities of the position, showcasing their effectiveness in similar roles.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, particularly in written and spoken communication. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, especially if they are relevant to the communities served by NRC in Iraq. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with beneficiaries and stakeholders to ensure that information is conveyed clearly and respectfully.
