Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst in Midwifery will provide technical expertise for the development and implementation of strategies aimed at strengthening maternal health, particularly in midwifery care. This includes obstetric practice, contraceptive technology, and community-based services. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the quality of maternal health services and ensure effective implementation of UNFPA's programs. The analyst will work under the general supervision of the UNFPA Representative and directly with the Maternal Health Programme Specialist, contributing to essential strategies and activities in maternal health and midwifery care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Analyst will be responsible for developing and operationalizing strategies related to maternal health and midwifery care. This includes overseeing the implementation of annual work plans, analyzing socio-demographic and health-related data to identify opportunities for program interventions, and ensuring compliance with approved budgets. The analyst will also be tasked with reporting on program implementation and results, documenting best practices, and enhancing the capacities of implementing partners. Additionally, the role involves resource mobilization and partnership development, advocating for maternal health issues, and preparing technical documents to support decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in reproductive health or a related field. A minimum of two years of specific work experience in adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health, training providers in reproductive health, or monitoring maternal health activities is required. Experience in mentoring students in midwifery training and familiarity with UN agencies or international organizations is an asset. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and cloud-based applications, is essential.

Educational Background:
The position requires at least a Master's degree in reproductive health or a relevant field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of maternal health and midwifery care, as well as for developing effective strategies and interventions.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in sexual and reproductive health, particularly in areas related to adolescents and young people. Experience in training and mentoring midwifery students, as well as familiarity with the operations of UN agencies or international organizations, is highly desirable. Previous experience within the UN system is considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in French (both oral and written) is mandatory, along with a good command of English. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and reporting within the organization and with external partners.
