Job Overview:
The Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) plays a crucial role in guiding and collaborating with a network of US-based and international physicians, scientists, and allied health professionals. The SMA is responsible for leveraging their extensive knowledge of cardiovascular care and science to assist in the development of the Association’s Scientific Statements, Clinical Practice Guidelines, and educational programs. This position requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with volunteers and staff. The SMA will also serve as an expert resource for internal projects, ensuring that the Association’s initiatives are informed by the latest scientific research and clinical practices. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about advancing cardiovascular health and are eager to contribute to the Association's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The SMA will guide and partner with science volunteers in creating scientific statements, advisories, and guidelines. They will provide consultation and approval on scientific aspects to internal staff developing public and professional programs. The SMA will also review content for professional websites and products, synthesize and analyze scientific literature, and communicate findings to both lay professionals and Association staff. Additionally, the SMA will manage relationships with high-level international volunteers and oversee multiple complex projects under time constraints, ensuring that all activities align with the Association's goals and standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a PhD, MD, or equivalent in a biomedical or health-related field preferred. Expertise in molecular biology, genetics, pharmacology, physiology, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, or systems biology relevant to cardiovascular science is essential. A minimum of three years of experience in academic or clinical settings is required, with eight years preferred. Candidates should demonstrate superior writing and communication skills, a publication history in peer-reviewed journals, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and staff are critical.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for candidates holding a PhD, MD, or equivalent in a relevant biomedical or health-related field. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in cardiovascular disciplines and related scientific areas.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in academic or clinical settings, with a preference for candidates who have eight years of experience. This experience should involve basic and translational research, demonstrating the ability to manage complex projects and collaborate with diverse teams.

Languages:
