The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) play a crucial role in this reform, supporting countries in their development priorities and the attainment of the SDGs. The UN RCO in Belize operates under the guidance of an empowered UN Resident Coordinator, who is the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System at the country level. This office is dedicated to fostering partnerships and coordinating efforts to achieve sustainable development goals across the nation.
Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer position is a fixed-term limited role based in the United Nations Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Belmopan, Belize. The incumbent will report to the Senior Development Coordination Officer, Strategic Planning and RCO Team Leader. The role involves providing substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT partnerships, participating in joint resource mobilization for the UNSDCF, and supporting financing for the achievement of the SDGs. The officer will also engage in knowledge management and capacity development initiatives, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the UN's efforts in Belize. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for partnerships and resource mobilization, as well as the ability to analyze data and trends to inform decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of sustainable development theories and concepts. They should demonstrate the ability to identify data sources, conduct research, analyze data, and draft reports on sustainable development issues. Professionalism, planning and organizing skills, and teamwork are essential competencies for this role. The ability to incorporate gender perspectives and ensure equal participation of women and men in all areas of work is also required.
Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education, or a related area is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is an advantage.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in providing strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, resource mobilization, or development finance is required. Experience in developing and implementing partnership and resource mobilization strategies is essential. Experience in supporting financing for SDGs is desirable, as is experience in data analytics or related areas.
Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable. The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French, and candidates should be proficient in these languages to effectively communicate and collaborate within the organization.
Additional Notes:
This is a fixed-term limited position with an initial appointment period of one year, subject to availability of funds and budgetary approval. The position is open to nationals of Belize only, and candidates must be recruited within the country or commuting distance of the office. If no suitable local candidate is found, Belize nationals residing elsewhere may be considered, with the candidate responsible for relocation costs. - Prepare inputs on due diligence processes for potential partnerships and investment opportunities.
- Assist in developing locally-tailored partnerships and resource mobilization strategies.
- Contribute to dialogues with partners to enhance development assistance policies.
- Participate in joint resource mobilization efforts, monitoring existing partnerships, and contributing to the design and implementation of joint programmes.
- Support knowledge management initiatives, maintaining and sharing intelligence to inform resource mobilization targets.
- Analyze data trends and provide insights for planning and reporting.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
