Job Overview: The position of Community Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) and Communication with Communities (CwC) Officer is crucial for operationalizing WFP’s commitments to community engagement and feedback mechanisms in the context of Sudan. The officer will be responsible for fostering inclusion and engagement with diverse communities, overseeing an effective Community Feedback and Response mechanism, and cultivating partnerships with NGOs, local authorities, and community leaders. This role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that accountability to affected populations (AAP) is prioritized in all WFP activities. The officer will also be tasked with drafting CwC plans, implementing AAP activities, and ensuring that community and stakeholder engagement is integrated into the planning and execution of WFP programs. The position demands a proactive approach to building trust and ensuring that the voices of marginalized groups are heard in decision-making processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the CFM and CwC Officer include:
Fostering inclusion and engagement with diverse communities to ensure their voices are heard.
Overseeing the Community Feedback and Response mechanism to ensure it operates effectively.
Cultivating and maintaining partnerships with NGOs, local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote AAP.
Coordinating with country partners (CPs) to draft and implement CwC plans and AAP activities.
Ensuring that AAP considerations are integrated into the planning, design, and implementation of all WFP activities.
Preparing and contributing to reports related to community feedback and response.
Organizing community consultations using participatory methods to inform program design.
Conducting beneficiary satisfaction surveys to assess the effectiveness of the CFM. 1
Facilitating training and briefings on AAP for WFP and CP staff. 1
Participating in interagency forums to ensure collaboration in communication across the humanitarian sector. 1
Performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders. A demonstrated understanding of community engagement principles and practices is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience in implementing feedback mechanisms and working in humanitarian contexts. Proficiency in project management and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also required. Additionally, candidates should have a strong commitment to WFP's values of integrity, collaboration, commitment, humanity, and inclusion.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be advantageous for candidates seeking to stand out in the selection process.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in community engagement, feedback mechanisms, or related fields. Experience working in humanitarian settings, particularly in conflict-affected areas, is highly desirable. Familiarity with WFP's operations and programs will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, given the local context. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the communities served by WFP in Sudan would be considered a plus.
