Job Overview:
The position of Coordinateur-rice Terrain is akin to that of a director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, delegated to oversee the geographical area of intervention, which is Mayotte. The individual in this role is responsible for proposing a regional strategy based on the context, the needs of vulnerable populations, and the associative and institutional landscape. They ensure that the strategy is implemented once validated and that projects are executed in accordance with the charter of Solidarités International and internal and contractual procedures. The coordinator mobilizes the necessary material and financial resources for the effective management of programs and supervises their execution. They coordinate the teams in place and are responsible for their safety in the assigned area. The coordinator serves as the primary contact for the Country Director and institutions within their area of intervention. In the first 2-3 months, the focus will be on transitioning from emergency phase activities to more stable operations, returning to normal processes, and re-mobilizing the team to ensure a manageable workload.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Coordinateur-rice Terrain include:
  • Developing and proposing a regional strategy based on the needs of vulnerable populations and the local associative landscape.
  • Ensuring the implementation of the strategy and adherence to the organization's charter and procedures.
  • Mobilizing necessary resources for program management and overseeing their execution.
  • Coordinating the teams and ensuring their safety in the field.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for the Country Director and local institutions.
  • Transitioning from emergency response to stable activities and normalizing processes.
  • Managing project budgets and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
  • Reporting on project progress and challenges to stakeholders.
  • Engaging with local communities and stakeholders to assess needs and adapt interventions accordingly.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • A higher university degree.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in the associative or humanitarian sector in France, with some experience in positions of responsibility.
  • Experience in humanitarian work for 3-4 years.
  • Experience in a similar position for 0-2 years.
  • Knowledge of institutional and associative organizations in France.
  • Understanding of issues related to access to water, hygiene, and sanitation.
  • Experience managing projects funded by public authorities.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a higher university degree relevant to the position. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in humanitarian principles, project management, and an understanding of the social and cultural dynamics in the regions where SI operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least some of that time spent in positions of responsibility. This experience should include direct involvement in project management and coordination in challenging environments, particularly in contexts similar to Mayotte.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of local languages such as Swahili, Shimahoré, or Malagasy is considered a plus and may enhance communication with local communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is a salaried role with a contract type that may be either a permanent or fixed-term contract lasting 12 to 18 months. The salary starts at €3,183, with an additional 35% cost of living allowance, bringing the total to approximately €4,297 gross.
