Job Overview:
The Telecommunications Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the operational needs of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including managing telephone billing processes, overseeing asset management, and providing support to the communications center. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Field Technology Section, ensuring that all telecommunications operations run smoothly and efficiently. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and client service. The Telecommunications Assistant will also be involved in administrative tasks, such as coordinating travel arrangements and monitoring expenditures, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the mission's operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Telecommunications Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: processing telephone invoices and ensuring timely recovery of costs; maintaining comprehensive filing systems for all telecommunications-related documents; assisting in the management of ICT assets, including receiving and inspecting incoming equipment; coordinating the delivery and return of CITS equipment; monitoring physical inventory and updating asset databases; providing support to the communications center by processing incoming and outgoing messages; assisting with administrative duties related to travel and budget management; ensuring the availability of spare parts and supplies for ICT equipment; and participating in training programs for staff. The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical or vocational training in telecommunications or a related field being required. ITIL Foundation and Service Operation certifications are desirable. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of ICT operational support services, particularly in areas related to asset management, telephone billing, and communications center operations. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development is essential, as is the ability to adapt to new technologies and processes as they emerge.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with additional technical or vocational training in telecommunications or related fields will be given preference. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of telecommunications and ICT operations, which are central to the role of the Telecommunications Assistant.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant experience in ICT operational support services is required. This experience should include work related to asset management, telephone billing, and communications center operations. Candidates with experience in managing ICT assets, knowledge of data analytics, and familiarity with e-billing systems will be viewed favorably. Languages:
