Job Overview:
The HeartCorps Service Member position is a full-time role that begins on May 19, 2025, at Scenic Bluffs Health Center, Inc. in Cashton, WI. The primary function of this role is to deliver health education and support to patients and community members regarding heart health topics. This includes cardiovascular disease, nutrition, smoking cessation, and chronic diseases like diabetes. Service members will engage in various activities such as conducting public health surveys, planning health workshops, and hosting CPR demonstrations. The position requires a commitment to community service and participation in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in public health.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the HeartCorps Service Member include serving full-time, typically Monday through Friday, for 41.25 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend hours. Responsibilities involve delivering health education, assisting patients in navigating health resources, conducting public health surveys, planning and conducting health workshops and fairs, supporting community members in blood pressure self-monitoring, and engaging local organizations to develop resources for chronic disease interventions. Additionally, members will participate in AmeriCorps orientation and ongoing training sessions to ensure effective service delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents, at least 18 years old, and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Reliable transportation to the host site and community activities is required, along with a valid driver's license and minimum automobile liability insurance. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to listen and provide non-judgmental support are essential. Candidates must also pass a National Service Criminal History Check, which includes checks against the National Sex Offender Public website and state criminal history records. While experience as a health aide or coursework in public health is beneficial, it is not mandatory.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional coursework or experience in public health, health communications, health promotion, or health sciences is considered helpful but not strictly necessary for applicants.

Experience:
While prior experience as a health aide or in related fields is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement for applicants. The emphasis is on the willingness to learn and engage in community health initiatives rather than on extensive prior experience.

Languages:
