Job Overview:
The HeartCorps Service Member position is a full-time service role that offers individuals the opportunity to gain valuable experience in public health while contributing to the advancement of equitable health outcomes in their communities. Service members will engage in various activities aimed at educating and supporting community members on heart health topics, including cardiovascular disease, nutrition, and chronic disease management. The role requires a commitment to serving full-time, typically Monday through Friday, with some flexibility for evening or weekend hours as needed. The position is designed to empower individuals to make a positive impact on public health through direct community engagement and education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the HeartCorps Service Member include delivering health education to patients and community members, assisting with public health surveys, planning and conducting local health workshops and fairs, supporting blood pressure self-monitoring initiatives, hosting CPR demonstrations, and engaging with local organizations to develop resources for chronic disease interventions. Service members will also participate in pre-service orientation and ongoing training sessions to enhance their skills and effectiveness in the role. This position requires a proactive approach to community engagement and a commitment to improving health outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the HeartCorps Service Member position must be United States citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents, at least 18 years of age, and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. They must have reliable transportation to and from the host site and community activities, maintain a valid driver's license, and meet the minimum automobile liability insurance requirements. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to listen and provide non-judgmental support are essential. Candidates must also pass a National Service Criminal History Check, which includes a nationwide check of the National Sex Offender Public website and state criminal history record checks.

Educational Background:
While a high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement, candidates with coursework or experience in public health, health communications, health promotion, or health sciences are preferred. This educational background will help candidates effectively engage with community members and deliver health education.

Experience:
Experience as a health aide or in a related field is beneficial but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and engage with the community to promote health equity and improve health outcomes.

Languages:
