Job Overview:
The Senior Development Director position is a hybrid role based in the South Central Pennsylvania area, specifically in cities such as Harrisburg, Carlisle, York, Gettysburg, Lancaster, and Lebanon. This role involves leading a team of two Development Directors and reporting directly to the Executive Director. The primary responsibility is to plan, organize, and direct social campaigns, including the Gala Heart Ball, Go Red for Women, and Impact Campaigns. The Senior Development Director will be tasked with achieving or exceeding an annual revenue goal of $700K through strategic fundraising events, partnerships, and donor engagement. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and nurturing relationships with C-suite and upper-level management volunteer leaders, as well as cultivating new customers to enhance revenue generation. The AHA emphasizes a fast-paced sales environment where driving revenue is crucial to supporting its mission, and the role offers a competitive base salary with the potential for additional incentives based on performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Senior Development Director, your responsibilities will include guiding and directing assigned staff to achieve goals, ensuring that the team meets or exceeds annual revenue targets for the South-Central PA market. You will engage, recruit, and mobilize CEOs and community leaders to serve on volunteer leadership committees for events like the Heart Ball. Your role will involve leading sponsorships and relationships to meet campaign goals through cultivation and stewardship, as well as coordinating planning processes for social campaigns and revenue efforts. You will also be responsible for developing and monitoring budgets for events, preparing plans and communications for meetings, supervising event logistics, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement market strategies.
Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in corporate sales or fundraising, with at least one year of supervisory experience. A bachelor's degree is preferred, although relevant experience may substitute for formal education. Strong leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to coach and mentor staff. Candidates should have a proven track record of exceeding sales or fundraising goals and possess excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and social skills. The role requires flexibility to work outside normal hours and the ability to travel locally up to 75%. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree is preferred for this position, but candidates with relevant college coursework combined with related experience may be considered. The educational background should ideally include studies related to business, communications, or nonprofit management, which would support the responsibilities of fundraising and team leadership.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in corporate sales or fundraising, with a preference for those who have experience supervising staff and managing revenue goals. Experience in engaging with high-level leaders at the C-suite level and a demonstrated ability to navigate workplace cultures to achieve goals are also important.
