Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) is the lead UN agency for reproductive health and rights, established to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA's mission is to ensure that every person can exercise their right to sexual and reproductive health, and to promote gender equality and women's empowerment. The organization operates in over 150 countries and has a global strategic plan for 2022-2025 that focuses on three transformative results: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA is committed to diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and persons with disabilities.
Job Overview:
The National Programme Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the project 'Ending the Scourge of Gender-Based Violence and Sorcery Accusation Related Violence in Papua New Guinea'. The coordinator will manage the project in close collaboration with national and sub-national government agencies, civil society organizations, and academic institutions. The role requires a strong focus on sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and community engagement, ensuring that the project aligns with UNFPA's mandate and responds to the evolving needs of the communities served. The coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring project outcomes and ensuring compliance with UNFPA policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include managing project activities, overseeing compliance with corporate policies, monitoring progress, conducting policy dialogues with government and partners, advocating for the inclusion of the ICPD agenda in national plans, establishing partnerships for resource mobilization, and leading office management and team development. The coordinator will also analyze reports from implementing partners, provide technical guidance, and represent UNFPA in high-level meetings and discussions.
Required Qualifications:

Experience working with UN agencies, particularly UNFPA, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the socio-economic and political landscape of Papua New Guinea, especially in the provinces, will be beneficial for effective project implementation.
