Job Overview:
The Program Manager for Health Science, Lab Ecosystem will be instrumental in supporting the National Center office of the American Heart Association, particularly in relation to the Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI). This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about food science and health, and it offers the flexibility of being home-based. The Program Manager will coordinate a global network of laboratories and contribute to initiatives such as Food EDU and Good Food Fellows. The position requires a strong understanding of food composition analysis, food systems, and data science, as well as excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration across various stakeholders. The role is full-time and benefits-eligible, with current funding expected to last until June 30, 2026, with potential for extension.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lab Ecosystem Manager will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Content Generation: Collaborate in creating scientific reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate progress and findings within the PTFI ecosystem.
  • Communication: Act as the primary contact for the PTFI global ecosystem, addressing agreements and queries from data users and contributors. Facilitate communication between PTFI, Good Food Fellows, and Food EDU ecosystems.
  • Coordination: Work closely with PTFI team members to onboard multi-omics tools and align workflows for scientific training distribution.
  • Monitoring: Track PTFI deliverables and project timelines, ensuring milestones are met and risk mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Contracts and Agreements: Manage contracts and agreements with collaborating labs and service providers, ensuring compliance and timely processing of deliverables and financial disbursements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific field such as Nutrition, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Public Health, or Environmental Science. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in interdisciplinary and multi-institutional projects is required, with global experience being preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of food composition analysis, food systems research, and data science. Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences are essential. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global environment is also necessary, along with a willingness to travel up to 10%, including international travel.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific discipline. This educational foundation should ideally be complemented by laboratory experience, which will enhance the candidate's ability to understand and engage with the scientific aspects of the role effectively.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of experience in participating in interdisciplinary and multi-institutional projects. Candidates with global experience will be preferred, as this role involves collaboration across various international stakeholders and initiatives.

Languages:
