Job Overview:
The Program Manager, Health Science, Lab Ecosystem will support the National Center office of the American Heart Association, primarily focusing on the Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI). This role is pivotal in coordinating a global network of laboratories that contribute to PTFI and related programs, such as Food EDU and Good Food Fellows. The position requires strong communication skills to foster collaboration across these ecosystems and a solid understanding of food composition analysis, food systems, and data science. The manager will be responsible for generating content, managing communications, coordinating workflows, and overseeing project timelines to ensure successful delivery of milestones. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, fixed-term position with the possibility of extension beyond June 30, 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Lab Ecosystem Manager include:
  • Content Generation: Co-create scientific reports, presentations, and documentation to share progress, findings, and best practices across the PTFI ecosystem.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for the PTFI global ecosystem regarding agreements and general queries from data users and contributors.
  • Coordination: Work closely with PTFI team members to support onboarding of PTFI’s multi-omics tools, aligning workflows for scientific trainings and Standard Operating Protocols.
  • Monitoring: Oversee tracking of PTFI deliverables and project timelines, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Contracts and Agreements: Manage all aspects of contracts and agreements with collaborating labs, vendors, and service providers, including the design of deliverables and collaboration with legal and administrative teams.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific field such as Nutrition, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Public Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, ideally with laboratory experience. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in interdisciplinary and multi-institutional projects is required, with global experience preferred. Candidates should have knowledge of food composition analysis, food systems research, and data science, along with strong organizational and communication skills to effectively translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of food systems, nutrition, and health, which are critical to the role's responsibilities.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of experience in participating in interdisciplinary and multi-institutional projects. Candidates with global experience will be preferred, as this role involves collaboration across various international stakeholders and requires an understanding of diverse food systems and health initiatives.

Additional Notes:

Employees are also entitled to a minimum of 16 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year, increasing with seniority, and 12 paid holidays annually. The role may require up to 10% travel, including international travel and overnight stays.
