Job Overview:
The SRH Programme and Communication Support position is designed to provide essential support to the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) team within UNFPA in Laos. The role involves working closely with the SRH Programme Coordinator and other team members to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of UNFPA's initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for supporting various programme elements, including family planning, midwifery, and emergency obstetric care, while also contributing to resource mobilization efforts. The position requires a proactive approach to administrative tasks, data collection, and communication initiatives, ensuring that the achievements of the SRH team are effectively highlighted and communicated to stakeholders. The role is critical in maintaining the momentum of the 7th Country Programme, which is set to conclude in 2026, and in preparing for key interventions that will drive the programme's success.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the SRH Programme and Communication Support role include:
  • Providing comprehensive support to the SRH Unit, focusing on all programme elements such as family planning, supply chain management, midwifery, maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR), emergency obstetric care (EmOC), and adolescent and youth-friendly services (AYFS).
  • Assisting with administrative tasks, including taking minutes during meetings, drafting letters, maintaining programme document records, and organizing filing systems.
  • Coordinating with relevant partners to gather service data and records related to healthcare access, which will be essential for evaluating programme implementation results.
  • Supporting the monitoring and documentation of the SRH programme in collaboration with programme staff.
  • Aiding in the organization of advocacy events and communication initiatives linked to UNFPA's programmes in Laos, including engaging with media outlets.
  • Contributing to content development for communication materials, including social media messages, beneficiary interviews, and promotional booths, in collaboration with the UNFPA Communications and Partnership team.
  • Assisting in the creation of video content for UNFPA's TikTok account and maintaining a communications inventory.
  • Overseeing UNFPA competitions both online and offline.
  • Supporting ongoing humanitarian efforts, particularly in telehealth initiatives, and assisting with the implementation of the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH). 1
  • Contributing to the development of resource mobilization strategies and supporting donor reporting for the programme. 1
  • Performing any additional tasks as required by the SRH and communication teams and UNFPA management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the SRH Programme and Communication Support position should possess a range of qualifications, including:
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate collaboration with team members and external partners.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis, particularly in the context of healthcare services.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation, particularly for advocacy and communication purposes.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, communications, or a related field. Additionally, knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues and familiarity with the socio-economic context of Laos will be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in programme support, communications, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of health or development, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNFPA's mission and objectives, as well as experience in resource mobilization and advocacy, will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of UNFPA. Knowledge of Lao or other local languages is considered a strong asset, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may also be beneficial, depending on the specific requirements of the role.
