Job Overview:
The Project Coordination Support/Consultant for the EUROCLIMA Programme will play a crucial role in supporting the Programme Management Officer for EUROCLIMA programme/LAC Policy Lead at UNEP FI. This position involves coordination, planning, implementation, and monitoring of regional and multi-country activities related to sustainable finance and climate transparency in Latin America and the Caribbean. The incumbent will ensure effective communication and collaboration among various stakeholders, including UNEP FI LAC Team, UNEP LACO teams, the European Commission, and implementing agencies. The consultant will be responsible for day-to-day programme coordination, monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management, contributing to the overall success of the EUROCLIMA Programme, which aims to facilitate the region's green transition through climate mitigation and adaptation efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing general support to the Programme Management Officer, updating planning and budgeting for EUROCLIMA activities, conducting monthly and annual monitoring of activities and results, producing programme reports, preparing necessary documents and presentations, participating in various meetings and events, and ensuring operational and administrative follow-up of agreements and contracts. The consultant will also act as a liaison to the European Commission, provide strategic advice during country dialogues, identify risks and prepare alerts on issues affecting programme execution, and contribute to the design and implementation of the knowledge management strategy. Additionally, the consultant will lead communication and visibility activities for the programme and oversee the monitoring of agreements and contracts in compliance with UNEP FI’s internal procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in environment, science, engineering, international development, political science, international relations, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree, provided the candidate has three years of relevant work experience. Professional experience of at least five years in project or program management within the international cooperation sector is required, including experience with multi-stakeholder programs. At least two years of experience in policy-oriented work related to climate change, environment, or natural resources in the Latin America and the Caribbean region is desirable. Familiarity with international donors and managing technical cooperation projects in developing countries, particularly in the LAC region, is also preferred.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environment, science, engineering, international development, political science, or business administration is required. A master's degree in a related area may be considered in lieu of an advanced university degree if accompanied by sufficient relevant work experience. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of environmental issues and sustainable development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or program management, particularly in the international cooperation sector. Candidates should have experience working with multi-stakeholder programs and at least two years of experience in policy-oriented work related to climate change, environment, or natural resources in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Practical experience with international donors and managing technical cooperation projects in developing countries is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required as it is the working language of UNEP FI. Additionally, fluency in Spanish is mandatory, given the focus on the Latin America and Caribbean region. Proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is expected to last for a duration of nine months and involves working remotely, with a focus on supporting the EUROCLIMA Programme in Latin America and the Caribbean. The consultant will be under the overall supervision of the Head of UNEP FI and will report directly to the Programme Officer responsible for EUROCLIMA. The role is full-time, and the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
