Job Overview: The Knowledge Management Officer position is integral to the Global Programme on Nature for Development, which is implemented by UNOPS for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This role requires continuous research support to ground project activities scientifically, complement program development, and identify synergies with existing initiatives. The officer will assist in scanning for new initiatives and innovations in the sector, as well as support special projects such as publications and communications. The position demands collaboration with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of educational content related to environmental sustainability, and the organization of virtual events and workshops to promote e-learning offerings. The officer will also maintain online learning platforms, coordinate translations, and develop interactive data visualizations for reporting on sustainability metrics.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Knowledge Management Officer will be responsible for conducting research and analysis on emerging trends in biodiversity and sustainable development, assisting in the design of promotional materials for e-learning offerings, developing content strategies for course promotion, and collaborating with experts to ensure educational content accuracy. The officer will organize and manage virtual events, maintain online learning platforms, coordinate translations of e-learning materials, create documentation and guides for users, monitor course effectiveness through user feedback, and collaborate with IT teams to integrate innovative tools into the e-learning platform. Additionally, the officer will manage user engagement campaigns to drive participation in courses and events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess relevant experience in education, instructional design, multimedia content creation, biodiversity, climate change, or related fields. A strong understanding of environmental sustainability topics is essential. Educational Background: An advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) is desirable, or a first-level university degree in relevant fields such as arts, communication, environmental management, international relations, or social studies, along with two years of relevant experience. Experience: Relevant experience is defined as professional experience working on topics such as education, instructional design, multimedia content creation, biodiversity, climate change, or civil society engagement. Languages: Fluency in English is required, while fluency in other UN languages is desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and materials.
Additional Notes: The contract type is an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) with a duration of six months, potentially extendable based on performance and funding availability. The position is home-based, requiring the selected candidate to ensure a secure internet connection and necessary equipment. The contract will specify a unit price per day worked, with no minimum guaranteed hours.
