Job Overview: The Project Officer will play a crucial role in the implementation of the Supporting Temporary Employment and Infrastructure Rehabilitation Programme (STEP). This position involves facilitating community sensitization meetings and training related to the Temporary Employment Program (TEP) activities. The Project Officer will work closely with community members and stakeholders to identify and select appropriate refugees for participation in TEP activities. Daily field monitoring visits will be conducted to ensure accurate beneficiary attendance records, gather feedback, and address any concerns promptly. The incumbent will directly implement program activities in collaboration with the Assistant Project Officer and Project Manager, conduct field assessments, and collect data, including beneficiaries' satisfaction surveys. The role also requires preparing necessary documentation for beneficiary payments and providing updates to the STEP project management team. The Project Officer will be expected to perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring that all activities align with UNRWA's mission and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate community sensitization meetings and training related to Temporary Employment Program activities.
Collaborate with community members and stakeholders to identify and select suitable refugees for TEP activities.
Conduct daily field monitoring visits to ensure beneficiary attendance records are accurately maintained and address any feedback received from beneficiaries.
Implement program activities in the field in close cooperation with the Assistant Project Officer and Project Manager.
Conduct field-level assessments and data collection, including beneficiaries' satisfaction surveys and post-distribution monitoring.
Prepare and provide feedback on necessary documents to facilitate timely beneficiary payments, informing them of any potential delays and necessary steps to address them.
Provide regular updates on activities to the STEP project management team.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in Business Administration, Project Management, International Relations, or other relevant disciplines. A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in program monitoring, data collection, community sensitization, and conducting trainings and meetings is required. Candidates should also demonstrate competencies in decision-making, technical expertise, persuasion, planning, organization, and leadership.
Educational Background: A university degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Project Management, or International Relations is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage and implement the project activities.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience. This experience should include program monitoring, data collection, community sensitization, and conducting trainings and meetings. Candidates with a background in working with vulnerable communities or in humanitarian settings will be preferred, as this experience is crucial for understanding the challenges faced by Palestine refugees.
Languages: Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with beneficiaries, stakeholders, and team members, ensuring that all project activities are conducted smoothly and efficiently.
Additional Notes: The position is offered as a Limited Duration Contract (LDC) for a duration of 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The monthly basic salary for this position is JOD 1,025.3
Additional benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave pro-rated to the duration of the contract, family allowance (if applicable), 2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service, maternity leave (upon meeting eligibility requirements), and 2 weeks of paternity leave (upon meeting eligibility requirements). Only candidates residing in the West Bank or Jerusalem, with authorization to work in the duty station, are eligible to apply.
