Job Overview:
The position of Radiologic Technologist involves working under the direct supervision of the Migration Health Officer and receiving technical guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing screening X-rays of refugees and immigrants as part of the Migration Health Assessments (HAP) and other programs implemented by the IOM Migration Health Division in Doha, Qatar. The role requires taking high-quality chest X-ray images as requested by Physicians and/or Radiologists, adhering to IOM and international radiographic standards, and ensuring compliance with technical instructions from resettlement countries. The Radiologic Technologist will also be responsible for explaining X-ray procedures to applicants, preparing examination rooms, and ensuring proper ID checking and data entry. The position emphasizes the importance of radiation protection and quality assurance in the Radiology Unit, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the radiological procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Radiologic Technologist include:
  • Taking high-quality chest X-ray images of migrants as per requests from Physicians and/or Radiologists, following established standards and procedures.
  • Explaining X-ray examination procedures to applicants and addressing any questions they may have.
  • Preparing equipment and examination rooms for use, ensuring proper ID checking and accurate data entry into CR/DR machines.
  • Applying appropriate radiographic techniques and radiation protection measures during X-ray procedures, including the use of lead shielding for pregnant women.
  • Processing digital images on CR/DR machines, reviewing image quality, and repeating images when necessary.
  • Reporting urgent information to Radiologists and/or Physicians.
  • Maintaining high-quality standards in the Radiology Unit through proper utilization of techniques and adherence to technical requirements.
  • Acting as the quality assurance focal person for the X-ray Unit as needed.
  • Participating in ensuring radiation safety for applicants, staff, and the public by following standard protection rules and regulations. 1
  • Conducting regular quality assurance checks on CR/DR X-ray machines and reporting any issues immediately. 1
  • Communicating with external and internal technical service providers for maintenance and repair of X-ray equipment. 1
  • Optimizing workflow in the Radiology Unit through quality control and improvement of standard operating procedures. 1
  • Preparing daily worklists, barcodes, and ensuring the identity of applicants. 1
  • Uploading digital chest X-ray images to the e-Medical website and preparing statistical summary reports on operational activities. 1
  • Coordinating with Radiologists and Teleradiology Centers for the reading of chest X-rays and providing reports to panel physicians. 1
  • Implementing infection control measures and maintaining a tidy work environment. 1
  • Suggesting improvements for quality, speed, or safety of radiological procedures. 1
  • Performing any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include:
  • A university bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from an accredited academic institution.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in radiography, particularly in chest X-ray.
  • An up-to-date professional license or board certificate as per the country’s requirements.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience in radiology information systems and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) is an advantage.
  • Experience in screening chest X-rays and Health Assessment Programs is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with clinic operations at IOM Qatar is a distinct advantage.
  • Holding medical licenses to practice in Qatar is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from an accredited institution. Accreditation should be verified through the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the educational background meets international standards for radiologic education.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in radiography, with a strong emphasis on chest X-ray procedures. Candidates should have practical experience with digital radiography machines and a solid understanding of radiographic techniques. Experience in health assessment programs and familiarity with IOM operations in Qatar will be considered advantageous. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid professional license or board certification as required by local regulations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. As IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, proficiency in any of these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may involve written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The position is open to all nationalities, and IOM Qatar will assist with work visa and residency permit requirements for selected candidates. The appointment is subject to certification of medical fitness for the role.
