Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will assist with various aspects of event planning and support, including coordinating pre-event logistics and managing on-site event activities for multiple community events. They will conduct outreach to event participants, follow up with past attendees, and engage with key stakeholders to enhance participation. Additionally, interns will help prepare materials for sponsor presentations and maintain relationships with sponsors. They will also be responsible for data entry, organizing event-related information, and assisting with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials and organizing event supplies. This role requires effective communication skills, both written and oral, as interns will interact with community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be seniors or graduate students pursuing degrees in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management. They should demonstrate excellence in written communication and possess effective one-on-one and group communication skills. Comfort in working with community leaders and volunteers is essential. Proficiency in social media platforms and intermediate to excellent skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint are required. Basic knowledge of Canva is also beneficial. Interns must have reliable WiFi and transportation, and they should be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Educational Background: The ideal candidates for this internship are those who are in their senior year of college or pursuing a graduate degree in relevant fields such as business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the dynamics of event planning and community engagement within a non-profit context.
Experience: While prior experience in promotion, sales, or fundraising is preferred, it is not mandatory.
