Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed for college students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in a non-profit environment, specifically within the Development Team of the American Heart Association. The intern will support key fundraising events such as the Heart Challenge, Heart Ball, and Go Red for Women events. This role involves a variety of tasks that are crucial for the planning, execution, and follow-up of these impactful campaigns. Interns will also collaborate with the communications team to create social media content and develop communication strategies that enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the events. The internship is structured to provide valuable insights into the workings of a voluntary health organization and to help interns build a professional network while contributing to meaningful health initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties including: assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of pre-event logistics and on-site management for multiple community events; conducting outreach to event participants and following up with past attendees to encourage participation; preparing materials for sponsor presentations and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; pulling reports and organizing event-related data to track progress and outcomes; and providing administrative support such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank-you cards, and organizing event supplies. This role requires effective communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management. They should have a demonstrated interest or experience in promotion, sales, or fundraising. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in social media platforms and Microsoft Office applications. The ability to work professionally with community leaders, volunteers, and staff at all levels is crucial. Interns must also have reliable WiFi and transportation, and be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week during standard business hours.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the dynamics of event planning and nonprofit operations.

Experience:
While prior experience in event planning or nonprofit work is beneficial, it is not strictly required. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and skill development for students who are eager to learn and contribute to the mission of the American Heart Association.

Languages:
English is the mandatory language for this position, as effective communication with diverse stakeholders is essential. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
