Job Overview: The Program Consultant, Health Care position at the American Heart Association involves implementing quality programs aimed at improving care for patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases and strokes. Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Program Consultant include:
Engaging with clients at hospitals, healthcare systems, and other medical facilities to implement and deliver program services.
Educating healthcare providers on treatment guidelines and clinical processes.
Collecting data and utilizing decision support tools to enhance quality improvement initiatives.
Developing and maintaining relationships with physician champions and key stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
Collaborating with state health departments and regional authorities to improve cardiovascular care systems.
Documenting all activities in customer relationship management tools and reporting on account interactions.
Communicating regularly with the Director of Health Care Quality to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
Traveling up to 10% for local and overnight stays as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with at least three years of relevant work experience. Experience in an acute care hospital setting, particularly in clinical quality or process improvement projects, is essential. Familiarity with Systems of Care work is also required. Proficiency in advanced PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is necessary, as well as strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication abilities. Candidates should be able to travel up to 10% for local and overnight stays.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required, or equivalent work experience may be considered. Additional certifications such as Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality or Certified Health Education Specialist, or a clinical degree, are preferred but not mandatory.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant work experience, particularly in clinical quality improvement or process improvement projects within an acute care hospital or a national cardiac or stroke clinical quality improvement program. Experience in collaborative learning groups is also beneficial.
