Job Overview: The Development Director, School Engagement position is a vital role within the American Heart Association, focusing on building partnerships with K-12 schools in Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware. Duties and Responsibilities: The Development Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Recruitment and cultivation of school volunteers for K-12 partnerships with the AHA.
Development and execution of plans to meet revenue and volunteer recruitment goals, including securing sponsorships and donations.
Management of accounts and promotion of the AHA's cause within existing and potential K-12 schools.
Implementation of life-saving initiatives, including the Kids Heart Challenge programs.
Recruitment, training, and development of volunteers at various levels within the schools.
Establishing and maintaining excellent customer service relations with school contacts.
Attendance at all required meetings and trainings.
Conducting summer cultivation activities with school administrators.
Daily travel to visit 5-10 schools, requiring reliable transportation and the ability to lift/move large objects as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess a university or college degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for those who have at least three years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a similar field. Strong marketing, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential. The ability to analyze and forecast sales data, along with proficiency in written and oral communication, is required. Candidates should also have the capability to recruit, train, and counsel volunteers effectively. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including presentations and spreadsheets, is necessary.
