Job Overview:
The Electrician position is crucial for maintaining the electrical systems within the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. The Electrician will work under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and the Electromechanical unit, ensuring that all electrical devices, such as motors, pumps, and control devices, are functioning efficiently. The position requires frequent travel to different regions, highlighting the need for flexibility and adaptability. The Electrician will also be responsible for preparing maintenance reports, conducting inspections, and supervising outsourced electricians, ensuring that all work meets the required standards. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Electrician will have a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: assisting with the installation and repair of electric motors, pumps, switchgear, and control devices; performing routine maintenance on various electrical service devices; executing work orders and preparing maintenance reports; inspecting electrical work defects; assisting in the maintenance and repair of power distribution systems; conducting technical inspections of incoming electrical materials; preparing works from manuals and schematics; assessing electrical material requirements; performing field visits to prepare condition reports; providing training and supervision to outsourced electricians; operating a variety of tools and power equipment; and assisting with data collection and analysis for reporting purposes. The Electrician will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned by the unit supervisor, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and professionalism.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent in electrical engineering. A certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering is desirable. The position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in generator mechanics, electrical work, or a related area. However, this experience requirement can be reduced to one year if the candidate holds a relevant first-level university degree. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical systems and possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent in electrical engineering. Additionally, candidates with a certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering will be viewed favorably.
