Job Overview: The Communications and Social Mobilization Analyst plays a crucial role in advancing UNFPA's mission in Costa Rica by developing and implementing communication strategies that enhance public awareness and support for the organization's objectives. Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst on Communications and Social Mobilization is tasked with leading the design, planning, and management of UNFPA's country program. Key responsibilities include:
Developing an innovative communications and visibility strategy to enhance public understanding of UNFPA's mandate and strengthen political support.
Creating and monitoring a work plan for communication activities, ensuring compliance with objectives and budgetary resources.
Analyzing the internal and external environment to provide communications guidance and produce regular updates on UNFPA's activities in Costa Rica.
Collaborating with mass media to generate public interest in UNFPA's initiatives through various media channels.
Maintaining the UNFPA Costa Rica website and managing social media content.
Supporting resource mobilization efforts by identifying potential partnerships and funding sources, and preparing background documents for proposal development.
Monitoring existing partnerships and ensuring timely reporting on program activities.
Providing strategic support for public events and high-level visits, ensuring effective communication of UNFPA's objectives and achievements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree (minimum Master's Degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Public Policies, Political or Social Sciences. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in Corporate Communication and Resource Mobilization is required. Experience in culturally sensitive programming and initiatives promoting gender equality and universal health services is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a strong track record of technical leadership and the ability to produce high-quality results in a collaborative environment. Familiarity with the UN system and its operational frameworks is an advantage.
Educational Background: An advanced degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Public Policies, Political or Social Sciences is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively engage in communication strategies and resource mobilization efforts.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in Corporate Communication and Resource Mobilization. Candidates should have prior experience in culturally sensitive programming and a demonstrated ability to support initiatives that promote equality and health services.
