Job Overview:
The Chauffeur position at UNFPA involves providing reliable and safe driving services for office officials and visitors, as well as managing the maintenance and condition of the assigned vehicle. The role also includes the distribution of mail and administrative documents. The Chauffeur will work under the general supervision of the UNFPA Representative and the direct supervision of the Operations Assistant. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chauffeur will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Driving the assigned vehicle for office errands and field missions, ensuring safe and timely transportation for officials, visitors, and authorized partners.
  • Maintaining the vehicle in good working condition, including regular checks and minor repairs, and ensuring all necessary documents are up to date.
  • Distributing and collecting mail and administrative documents for the office, including photocopying and filing as needed.
  • Handling payments for office utilities and liaising with banks for transactions.
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by UNFPA management to support office operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols during driving and vehicle maintenance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a CEPE or CFEPD diploma (Certificate of Completion of Primary Studies) and a valid category B driving license. They should have at least two years of relevant professional experience as a chauffeur, demonstrating knowledge of protocol and courtesy. Candidates must be physically fit, possess good moral character, and have a solid geographical knowledge of Niger. The ability to perform minor vehicle repairs is essential, and prior experience in a similar role within an international organization, particularly within the UN system, is an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes a minimum of a CEPE or CFEPD diploma, which signifies the completion of primary education. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid driving license of category B, allowing them to operate the vehicle assigned to them.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant experience in a chauffeur role. Candidates should have a proven track record of safe driving and vehicle maintenance, as well as familiarity with the operational protocols of international organizations. Experience working within the United Nations system is considered a significant asset, as it demonstrates an understanding of the unique environment and expectations of the organization.

Languages:
Fluency in French, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of local languages and English is considered an asset, as it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders and visitors.
