Job Overview:
The Grants Analyst (Retainer) position is part of the UNOPS Corporate Retainer Pool, which provides temporary, short-term support to UNOPS business units worldwide. The role involves providing expert analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">technical analysis and guidance for various grant support projects and programs globally. The successful candidate will work within the Infrastructure and Project Management Group (IPMG) and will be responsible for technical onboarding and supervision of grant support activities. The position is flexible, with assignments varying in scope and duration, and may require occasional international travel. The incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders, ensuring effective management of grant-funded projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Grant Support Policy, Guidance, Tools and Analysis: Responsibilities include data collection and analysis to understand the implementation of grant support policies, drafting and revising templates and guidance content, developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), drafting calls for proposals, conducting compliance analysis, and routine monitoring of grant support activities.
  • Implementing Partner Capacity Building: This involves developing capacity building plans, co-designing and delivering training activities, conducting capacity assessments, and coordinating capacity building activities with implementing partners.
  • Communications and Knowledge Management: Duties include documenting business processes for digital solutions, organizing documentation for evaluations and audits, collaborating on knowledge sharing, and contributing to internal communications regarding grant support.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Development Studies, International Relations, or Business Administration. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant professional experience may be accepted. A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in grant management is required, including report writing, supporting grantees, stakeholder capacity assessment, and training resource development. Previous experience within the UN system or similar organizations is essential, and knowledge of UN rules and regulations is preferred.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in Development Studies, International Relations, Social Science, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, Project Management, Community Management, or Communications is required. A bachelor's degree with relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in grant management is required. This experience must include report writing, supporting grantees through the grant process, conducting capacity assessments, and developing training resources. Previous work experience in grant management within the UN system, foundations, NGOs, or international donors is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in another UN language such as French, Spanish, or Arabic is highly desirable.

Additional Notes:
This position is a retainer contract, which is not full-time and may involve ad-hoc requests for services. The contract duration is for 1 year, renewable based on performance and business needs. Candidates must complete mandatory courses before providing services, and these courses are unpaid.
