Job Overview: The Caseworker position is primarily focused on providing assistance to victims and survivors of human trafficking. This role involves developing tailored case plans that align with individual client needs, utilizing a variety of services and resources, including financial, medical, social, and vocational support, based on client eligibility. The Caseworker is expected to participate in program planning and service development through various committees, task forces, and work groups. Operating under moderate supervision, the Caseworker has the latitude to exercise independent judgment and initiative in their work. The position requires a strong commitment to client advocacy and the ability to navigate complex social service systems to ensure clients receive the necessary support to achieve their goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Caseworker's responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to: providing individualized orientation, support, referral, and advocacy services by thoroughly assessing and evaluating each client’s unique needs; collaborating with clients to create realistic self-sufficiency plans and timelines, while managing client expectations throughout the service period; ensuring clients have access to the tools necessary to meet their established goals and objectives; conducting intake assessments and pre-employment/job readiness orientations for clients eligible for employment services; responding promptly and effectively to emergency calls as needed; monitoring client progress to ensure that goals are being met and resources are being utilized efficiently, making adjustments to initial plans as necessary; maintaining compliance with all case file management and reporting requirements; actively participating in relevant partner meetings and engaging with various stakeholders to identify community resources; and performing other duties as assigned by supervisors or program managers.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Caseworker position should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Social Work or a related field of study. Relevant professional experience in social services, humanitarian relief, public service, or a non-profit environment is essential, with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate success in working and communicating effectively within a multicultural environment, showcasing the ability to contribute both independently and as a vital team member. A self-starter mentality with excellent problem-solving skills is crucial, along with the capacity to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required, and candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area for home visits, agency visits, and service provider visits. Individuals with lived experiences of human trafficking are particularly encouraged to apply.

Additional Notes: The working environment for the Caseworker position includes a combination of standard office settings, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area. The role may require occasional weekend and/or evening work to accommodate client needs and program demands. Compensation for this position is based on various factors, including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget considerations. The IRC offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package for U.S.-based candidates, which includes 10 sick days, 10 U.S. holidays, and 20-25 paid time off days depending on the role and tenure. Medical insurance starts at $143 per month, dental coverage begins at $6.50 per month, and vision insurance starts at $5 per month.
